Join us for an afternoon of refreshments and conversation at Elevated Matter, Chris Davies’s private gallery and salon in his Warren Street townhouse. Bringing art into conversation with design and adornment, Elevated Matter is a space for looking closely, exchanging ideas, and gathering around work that celebrates the human spirit.
Alongside paintings and sculpture by Hudson Valley artists, guests will have an opportunity to discover Davies’s latest sculptural 18k gold jewelry and intricately woven necklaces of colorful gems.
At 4pm, Chris will give a brief introduction to the history and use of Gems in Medicine. For more than 25 years, Davies has studied traditions in which precious gemstones are understood to interact with body and mind, and has brought aspects of this knowledge into his work with private clients. His distinctive approach combines traditional Vedic birth-chart analysis, Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis, and somatic experience to inform the selection of precious gems and the creation of bespoke jewels.
Join us in the spirit of the art salon, for what is sure to be a lively conversation.

ABOUT RECESS
RECESS is a monthly public program of The Hudson Eye, locally in Hudson, NY which keeps consistent momentum and programming for the organization's year-round local activities.
Keeping with a theme of local artists, local venues, and local businesses, the monthly RECESS series spotlights both works-in-progress and established projects (along with the small businesses who host them) in a format that can be shared safely, distantly, and in an intimate local setting.
Innovation. Experimentation. Deep dives. Creative development. Access to patrons. It’s all welcome here in Hudson, NY.
RECESS is a safe space, an economic catalyst, and an opportunity to engage local businesses, performers, patrons, artists, and audience members in a program of safe gatherings, and creative dialogue.
RECESS will continue to safely promote and celebrate the work of diverse local artists and local venues in 2026 through in-person formats: often with access to the Curator, Founder, Staff of The Hudson Eye, and Young Patrons of the organization each month.
